Baroque Music Beside the Grange
The harpsichordist Luisa Morales and the dancer Cristóbal Salvador will present a program of Spanish music and dance from the 18th and early 19th centuries.
Alison Melville, flutist and artistic director of Baroque Music Beside the Grange, Luisa Morales, harpsichordist, and Cristóbal Salvador, a specialist in Spanish historical dance, will present a program of Spanish music and dance from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It illustrates the intermingling of "popular" and "classical" music as well as the impact of traditional forms in Spanish art.
Fandangos, boleros, zapateados, tonadillas and other folk-influenced pieces by Ledesma, Rodriguez de Ledesma, Blas de Laserna, Moretti and Sor and others complement duo, obbligato and solo sonatas by the Spaniard Juan Ledesma, Scarlatti and Boccherini (who spent most of their working lives in Spain), and Mozart.
