On the occasion of the bicentennial of the 1812 Spanish Constitution of Cadiz, the Embassy of Spain in Canada in collaboration with the Consulate of Spain in Toronto, York University and Glendon College presents Cádiz, 1812: The birth of modern liberalism.

  1. 4:00 pm — Opening words by Patrick J. Monahan, Vice-President Academic & Provost of York University, Kenneth McRoberts, Dean of Glendon College and H.E. the Ambassador of Spain, Eudaldo Mirapeix.
  2. 4:20 pm — Presentations by: Adrian Shubert (York University) The Constitution of Cadiz as a transnational document; José Álvarez Junco (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) Cadiz, the nation and liberty; Roberto Breña (Colegio de México) Cadiz and Spanish America: its scope and legacy.
  3. 6:15 pm — Spanish musical interlude.
  4. 7:00 pm — Reception offered by H.E. the Ambassador of Spain, Eudaldo Mirapeix. Vin d’honneur.
