'Flamenco Vivo' in Toronto
The Paco Peña Flamenco dance company presents Flamenco Vivo at Roy Thomson Hall.
Spain, flamenco and Paco Peña are indelibly linked. Since moving to London in the late 1960s, the now septuagenarian Andalusian has popularized flamenco on a global level, playing shows with Jimi Hendrix, setting up the first university course in flamenco guitar, founding the famous Córdoba International Guitar Festival in his hometown, and performing around the world with his elite company of guitarists, singers and dancers.

Mr Peña is a virtuoso, capable of dazzling an audience beyond the frets of mortal man. He combines rapid-fire flourishes with a colorist’s sense of shading; this listener cannot recall hearing any guitarist with a more assured mastery of his instrument.
