The Roots of Flamenco 2019 World Tour in Montreal: Mónica Iglesias
The winner of the 2018 female dancer of Spain’s famed Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas, Mónica Iglesias and her company present an evening of Flamenco at Concordia University.
Monica Iglesias García and company will be joined by Manuel de Gines as a singer, Miguel Perez as a guitarist, and a special guest artist from Montreal, Rocio Vadillo.
Born in Madrid in 1988, Monica Iglesias García studied at Madrid’s Royal Conservatory of Dance. She won the first prize for female dancer at the 2018 Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas. She has performed with prestigious companies such as Ballet Flamenco de Andalucia, Ballet Nacional de España and Antonio Gades where she danced as a soloist. She has collaborated with such revered Flamenco figures as Antonio Canales, Joaquín Cortés, Rocío Molina, Carlos Saura, Rubén Olmo, Chano Domínguez and David Peña Dorantes.
