Canadian Hispanists Tribune at the Cervantes Institute in Madrid
Prestigious professors from Canada will debate the situation of Spanish and Hispanist Studies in this country, and state their desires and challenges.
On July 18 at 10:00 am (GMT +2), the first Tribune of Canadian Hispanists will be held in the auditorium of the Cervantes Institute in Madrid. Leading figures of the category of Adrian Shubert, Professor of History at York University in Toronto, specialist in the history of Spain in the 20th century, will participate; Yolanda Iglesias, Professor of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Toronto, specialist in medieval & Golden Age literature and President of the Canadian Association of Hispanists; Antonio Cazorla, Professor of History at Trent University in Peterborough; and Lauren Beck, Professor of Hispanic Studies at Mount Allison University in the province of New Brunswick.
All of them will offer a deep approach from their condition of protagonists of the Hispanic ecosystem and will reflect on the current strength of Spanish in Canada.
Currently, one million Spanish speakers live in Canada and Spanish is the most demanded foreign language in university and regulated education. Access to the Cervantes Institute is free and open to everybody. It will allow attendees to get closer to and meet the most vibrant representatives of Canadian Hispanism.
