Spanish Cinema Day 2024: Siete mesas de billar francés

Join us in this third celebration of “Spanish Cinema Day” with a free online screening of “Siete mesas de billar francés” by Spanish director Gracia Querejeta.

October 3rd marks the third edition of Spanish Cinema Day (Día del Cine Español), which aims to highlight the significance of Spanish cinema as a cultural heritage and a source of shared identity and imagination. Events and actions are organized during a day –both in the Spanish territory and internationally– that celebrate the richness and diversity of Spain’s cinematography and highlight the work of its professionals.

Angela and her young son, Guille, travel to the big city to see Leo, her father and Guille’s grandfather, when he suddenly falls ill. Upon their arrival, they discover that he has just passed away. Charo, Leo’s partner, explains the severe issues plaguing the family business, a hall with seven billiard tables. She believes the only way to settle the debts is to sell the establishment. Meanwhile, Angela learns that her husband has mysteriously disappeared. Faced with this painful reality, Angela resolves to move forward and rebuild her life. Her first step is to invest her savings in reviving the old hall and its seven tables.
