Festival of Spain and Latin America 2024

“The Festival of Spain and Latin America” showcases Spanish culture through performances such as Tango and Flamenco, featuring artists from around the world coming together for two nights of entertainment.

Tango with Laura Cadabón Sexteto

Renowned Argentine bandoneonist Laura Cadabón returns to Cinquième Salle at Place des Arts with a new program after her performance in February 2024. Cadabón, a rising star in the tango scene, is known for her passionate performances and extensive international tours.

For this show, she will be joined by Argentine vocalist María Luz Seferiades and Turkish singer Irem Bekter, performing pieces by renowned composer Astor Piazzolla. The ensemble includes pianist Olha Kudriakova, double bassist Émilou Johnson, and violinist Nadia Monczak. The evening will also feature tango choreography by dance couples Elias & Camille and Adrien & Nella.

Flamenco with Andrés Parodi Sextet

Chilean flamenco guitarist Andrés Parodi leads an ensemble that brings the vibrant sounds of Andalusia to life. Parido, a graduate of the Conservatory of Music, has performed at prestigious events like the Beijing Arts Festival and various venues across Spain, Dubai, and Argentina.

The sextet combines flamenco guitar, Argentine bandoneon, percussion, flute, saxophone, double bass, vocals, palmas (hand clapping), and dance by Francisca Vera. They will present a rich repertoire of flamenco styles, including bulerías, tangos, tarantas and sevillanas, along with Parido’s own compositions such as Etrusco and Puerta del Sol, dedicated to Astor Piazzolla.

Spanish dancer Federico Núñez is a special guest performer in this show. Núñez has appeared in prestigious productions such as Picasso and Dance by Carlos Saura and at the Lorca and Granada Festivals.
