Sergio García Sánchez at the 2018 Toronto Comic Arts

Spanish cartoonist Sergio Garcia Sánchez participate in TCAF as part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of his English publisher TOON Books.

Garcia Sánchez is best-known in North America for the award-winning younger-reader’s graphic novel Lost in NYC – A Subway Adventure, a visual tour-de-force exploration of New York City. He has published more than 45 books and his work has been translated into nine languages. He is also a professor of comics in France and Spain. He currently teaches in the Fine Arts Faculty at the University of Granada, and has created more than a dozen books for the French market.

García’s adroit art bursts with activity, while the story highlights the ingenuity city life brings out in the young. Packed with subway maps, lore and miscellany, it’s sure to be treasured by tweens and adults, too.

Aimed at ‘visual learners,’ this elegantly presented and emotionally satisfying graphic story is well worth the time even of children who have never set foot in Manhattan.
