Tomatito at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto

Spanish flamenco guitarist José Fernandez Torre, or “Tomatito”, mixes flamenco with a tasty blend of jazz, Brazilian, and Turkish music.

Tomatito is one of the most important and acclaimed Flamenco guitarists in the world. He won a Latin Grammy for the album Aguadulce, a tribute to his birthplace. His unique approach both to the traditional, festive forms and genre experimentation highlight his unprecedented musical sensitivity and interpretative power.

A charismatic personality and an unrelenting commitment to the continuity of flamenco¹s development have brought him worldwide recognition not only in the musical field but also in film, theatre and art. He has collaborated with a multitude of performers from all over the globe and has encouraged and influenced a whole generation of young artists.
