Artistic Residency for audiovisual creation at LIFT 2018-2019
The residency supports the making of a new analog, film-based work by creators born or living in Spain.
Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) co-organizes the second edition of the program of artistic residencies together with (S8) Mostra Internacional de Cinema Periférico and LIFT-Liaison of Independent Filmmakers that will take place at Lift’s facilities in Toronto.
Who can participate?
All those born or resident in Spain willing to create an analog film at the LIFT facilities in Canada will be eligible for the program, which will last between 4 and 6 weeks. Applicants must be of Spanish nationality or hold a NIE (foreigners’ ID number) issued by the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, with an accredited artistic trajectory, and wish to realize a film project in analog format.
Dates
The residency will take place from January to March 2019. Applicants can register online and view the full information in a PDF document (in Spanish). The closing date for submitting entries is August 15, 2018. The selected applicant will be announced on September 4 on the organizers’ websites.

(S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico
(S8) is an international festival held in A Coruña, Spain, during the first week of June. Its proposal focuses on avant-garde cinema and contemporary film creation, where filmmakers, journalists, professionals, students and an audience from all over the world meet prominent international personalities and creators. In addition, the Mostra is a meeting place for professionals where meetings, lectures and presentations of projects under development are held and advised by specialists of international prestige. (S8) dedicates each year special attention to education, with various didactic activities and seminars around film culture. This wide proposal is completed every year with video installations and exhibitions related to the theme of each edition.
The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT)
LIFT is Canada’s foremost artist-run production and education organization dedicated to celebrating excellence in the moving image. LIFT exists to provide support and encouragement for independent filmmakers and artists through affordable access to production, post-production and exhibition equipment; professional and creative development; workshops and courses; commissioning and exhibitions; artist-residencies; and a variety of other services.
